There were present —Councillors Hobbs, Ball, Stevenson, Roots, Clandon, Hawthorne and Knight. Mr G. F. Pearce wrote asking if something could not bo dono to improve the gas supply north of Blackbridge, particularly in tho early hours of the evening.—lt was decided to reply that tho matter was receiving tho engineer 6 attention. . , The Hutt Park committee forwarded a copy of their balance-sheet prepared as at March 31&t last and applied au advance on tho current year’s contribution.—Decided to forward .£lO. A long discussion took place on a Petition from tho outside employees of tho council for a weekly pay. and it was finally decided to pay every luesday. The Mdvor thought tho best reply to make would bo that throo had been no intention to any reflection on the brigade- As to any terms used by Councillor Hawthorne, tho council made an explanation to tho men when they were before the council, and that explanation was apparently accepted by them.
