PRESIDENT TAFT’S HOPES EFFECT OF ANGLO-AMERICAN TREATY. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received July 9, 5.5 p.m.) NEW YORK, July 8. In an address at the Christian Endeavour Society’s Convention at Atlantic City, President Taft announced that the Anglo-American agreement was certain to bo carried into effect. Ha expressed tho hope that other European countries would follow suit, thus creating a formidable instrument against war. Ho alluded to the South American and Spanish-Amorican wars as freak wars. Ho also announced tho signing of a treaty relating to tho taking of fur seals, which ho hoped meant the beginning of a system .of ocean game laws.
