FURTHER INVESTIGATION AS TO THE EXPLOSION. By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright. ■WASHINGTON, July 7. Tho Navy Department has selected a board of naval officers to study tho hull of tho battleship Maine, with a view to determining tho cause of destruction. General Bixby, commander of the United States Engineers, reported that tho explosion which caused the sinking of the Atainc in Havana harbour was internal, and had .not come from without, as was believed in the United States at the time of tho disaster.
