REMARKABLE CASE
A WEEK IN A MINING SHAFT. WITHOUT FOOD OR WATER. By‘Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright, (Received July 0, 5.5 p.m.) SYDNEY, July 9. A man named Parr has been rescued from a mining shaft at Wyalong after having been seven days without water and eight without food. Ho fell a distance of 35 feet, but, owing to tho soft ground at the bottom of tho shaft, was uninjured. His attempts to ascend were unavailing. Ho lost his voice from want of water and was unable to attract attention. On the seventh day rain fell. Ho regained bis voice, his shouting was heard and assistance arrived. Beyond suffering from weakness he is little the worse for his adventure.
