General orders just issued state that the undermentioned non-com missioned officers of the regular forces, having arrived from Eh gland, have been appointed to the New Zealand permanent staff, with the temporary rank of ser-geant-major: — . _ Corporal of Horse F. Nicholls, sth Lancers, assistant to Brigade-Major, Wellington Mounted Rifles Brigade, and SergeantMajor instructor Gth (Manawatu) Mounted Rifles. Sergeant S. Wood, 3rd Dragoon Guards, assistant to Brigade-Major, Otago Mounted Rifles Brigade, and Sergeant-Major instructor sth Mounted Rifles (Otago Hussars). Oamaru. Sergeant J. E. Partridge, 3rd Battalion, Worcestershire Regiment, posted, to Anck« land district, as Sergeant-Major instructor. . ~ _ ~ Sergeant J. Tho undermentioned officers, haring arrived from England, have taken up their duties as detailed: —Captain Henry Owen Knox. Army Service Corps, Director of Supnlies and Transport; Captain Athelstan Moore, D-S 0., Royal Dublit Fusiliers, instructor in infantry duties, Otago district. Staff Sergeant-Major instructor J. G. W Salt is transferred from the Ist Mounted Rifles (Canterbury Yeomanry Cavalry) to the 10th Nelson Mounted Rifles. Staff Sergeant-Major instructor C Q. Davis is transferred from the 3rd .'Auckland) Mounted Rifles to the 11th (North Auckland) Mounted ‘ Riflcc (Whangarei). Staff Sergeant-Major instructor S. M. seel has resigned his appointment.
