Later messages from Lord Howe Island report that the captain and eight of the crew of the Whangaroa landed on Juno 24th. The vessel was abandoned fifteen miles south-west of the island. She was water-logged for several days before'her abandonment. Efforts are being made to communicate by wireless with the vessels in the vicinity of Lord Howe Island, with the view of picking, up the castaways. It is considered possible that the wreckage recently sighted off Lord jttowo Island came from the Whangaroa. ,
