At the All-England tennis meeting, in the third round of the combined doubles, Doust and Mrs Chambers heat Gobert and Miss Tulloch, 6—6, 3—l. lu the semi-final, Doust and Mrs Chambers beat Ward and Miss Coles, 6—l, 6—2. ROPER BARRETT WINS CHAMPIONSHIP. > LONDON, July 7. The following are the results of the finals in tho championship tournament: — Singles—Roper Barrett beat Dixon, 5—7, 4—6, 6—4, 6—3, 6—l. Doubles —De Engis and Gobert beat Parke and Hardy, 6 —3, 6—l. 6—3. THE DAVIS COP CONTEST. (Received July 8, 0.15 a.m.) LONDON, July 7. Mr Dunlop, in a letter to the “ Sportsman ” bitterly complains of the All-England Tennis Association’s treatment regarding the Davis Cup. He says that Australasia’s position is unique- Britain does not want to finance a British team to take the, cup from Australasia. Ho added that Australasia is very sore, and demanded the visit of a British team by common right.
