PRIZE-GIVING

TRINITY COLLEGE VTIXXERS. Medals prizes* and certificates won bv Wellington musical pupils in last year's Trinity College of .Music (London) examinations were presented at the Sydney street schoolroom last night, in the presence of 'i very large attendance of the pupils ami lheir friends. Mr J. G. IV. Aitken presided, and was supported by Messrs 0. p. Luke. M.l*., S. Cimino. J. McGlnshun, and C. Citnjjio (local secretary). The results have already been published, with tho exception of tho national cash, prices of £j sent out by Trinity -College awarded to those who gained highest honours in theory and practice. These distinctions were won by Cecilia. Dwyer. Priscdla Miller, and Girlie Gibl>s. t The chairman, before handing out the "wards, remarked that the’ college had taken in hand a very important function end he did not know anything which made people' happier than the cultivation of rausic. There hud been, an Increase in the number of students, both for theory and practical examinations, and. as there were now seven instead of four subdivisions it gave the pupils better scope and tho tcKichcra greater satisfaction. However, he was sorry 'the teachers seemed a .bit afraid of the highMocal division. The late entry r.ystera initiated by the centre, enabling pupils to enter for examinations up till a few weeks of the examiner’s arrival, had been quite successful. He was glad-to be able to announce that Mr Sctilldki; -last year’s examiner, who had been so popular with pupils and J teachers*, was again -coming out. (Applause.) Enjoyable pianoforte solos were given by Miss Cecilia Dwyer (senior medallist), Mb's Agues Jenuinga {intermediate medallist), end Miss Mary Braddock (junior medallist).
