‘ The Gabriel's Gully jubilee celebrations were continued to-day in splendid weather. This afternoon a sports meeting 1 and sovon-a-side football tournament attracted several hundred people. A number of races for pioneers wc.ro held and entered into with great spirit. This evening a complimentary dinner was held, and very largely attended. The toast of tho evening was ''The Men of J GI/* which was proposed br Mr J. C.’ Brown©, secretary of the jubilee committee, and responded to by several pioneers- At the close of tho gathering the, pioneers showed their ap*preoiation of the efforts of the Mayor of Lawrence (Mr James Robertson) in bringing the celebrations to such a successful issue by presenting- him with a gold watch and locket, a presentation also being made to Mrs Robertson. To-morrow the pioneers will be tendered a picnic in the afternoon, and a smoko concert in the evening.
