GASWORKERS' STRIKE
RESULT OF UNION PRESIDENT’S LEAVING WORK. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright BRISBANE, May 23. There is a strike at tho Brisbane gasworks. The trouble was occasioned by tho company refusing to reinstate the president of tho union. The president gave provisional notice to leave, and then wished to retract. In the meantime, however, the company had filled tho position. Forty men wont out on strike, and the works are closed. ‘ There is about three days’ supply of gas stored. SOUTH WALES MINERS FRESH DEADLOCK IN CAMBRIAN , CASE. LONDON, May 22. A fresh deadlock has occurred with respect to the Cambrian mine dispute. LOCK-OUT IN GERMANY TEN THOUSAND TEXTILE WORKERS IDLE. BERLIN, May 22. A lock-out of 10,000 trad© unionists in tho textile, industry at Muenster has begun.
