JUBILEE CELEBRATIONS. pnrso association. LAWRENCE, May 22. , The celebration organised in connection with'the jubilee of the discovery of gold, in Gabriel’s .Gully commenced at Lawrence to-day. The greatest enthusiasm has been .displayed by townspeople in .the movement, and the proceedings to-day wore attended, by complete success. Close on fifteen hundred people arrived' in town from Dunedin and all parts of the district, and to-day’s celebrations wore participated in by about two thousand five hundred people. . " • . A procession of pioneers comprised 3SO old miners 'of 1861' arid subsequent years, who have come together from all parts of New Zealand, and even from as far afield, as Victoria. The number included 230 pioneers who were iu Gabriel’s Guliv in 1861. ■. The Hon. R.
