CRISIS AT HAND
IN COTTON TRADE threatened strike against NON-UNION LABOUR. By Telegraph—Press Association- -Copyright (Received May 22, 9.10 p.m.) LONDON, May 22. A crisis is threatened in the Lancashire cotton trade, owing to the weavers objecting to the employment of non-unionists. The Northern Weavers’ Amalgamation, at a meeting representing 300,000 operatives, resolved to support any local union striking against the engaging of non-unionists if 95 per cent, of the employees are unionists.
