Air John James Meiklo, who was awarded .£2500 compensation in,- New Zealand for wrongful conviction and imprisonment on a charge of sheep stealing has just arrived, m London. . it will be" remembered that the motion to award Mr Meakle compensation named the amount’as -£SOOO when it was introduced in the New Zealand Parliament, but this amount was eventually reduced, by half. “Now,” said Mr Meiklo this week, ‘I have come to London in' this year of tho Imperial ’Conference to try to get the Homo authorities to take up my case and secure, me the other A 2500 compensation which it whs originally intended I should have. , I mean to lecture before the British people upon the injustice I have suffered.”
