St. John's Literary and Debating Societv hold its weekly meeting on Friday evening, when “Selections from Favourite Authors" occupied the attention of members. Some dozen reading® were given, Dioksns' work* predominating, and a pleasant evening was-epent. The debate for n,ext_ Friday is "That the attitude of Labour in New Zealand is hindering the development of the country.”
