OUTBREAKS OF FIRE
SCXIOOLHOUSE GUTTED. PRESS ASSOCIATION. : " ’ STEATFOED, May 20. . A fire broke out in the Stratford.publie school at 3.o'clock this afternoon, gutting, the main, building. The origin of the fire is supposed to be-a, defective chimney. There was no insurance. RAGLAN POST OFFICE BUENED DOWN. ■ AUCKLAND, May 20. The Eagian Post Office and the . dwelling of tne’ postmistress were destioyed by fire on Thursday night. Only mail, matter was saved. It is supposed . the lire was caused by clothing in.the ward■xooe becoming ignited. , ' 1 At 1.13 p.m. on Saturday tho fire brigade were called to 186,’ Aro street, where a three-roomed dwelling occupied by William Thompson was found , to require, attention. Only a small:portion of/ the skirting-boa ids of due building (. was damaged.' A defective fireplace was tfie'oause of. tfie outbreak. Tfie contents were uninsured.
