STILL BLOWING HARD
PRESS ASSOCIATION. . GISBORNE. May 20. The south-easterly gale continues with occasional heavy showers and a high sea off the coast. The Union steamer Squall is sheltering in Tolago Bay. The captain reports that the funnel is damaged and likely to collapse before reaching Gisborne. This is duo to the excessive heat generated by steaming against the wind and tho force of the gale.
