CHARGE OF FORGERY
YOUNG MAN .ARRESTED. A young man, who recently arrived in this country from England, as a .ship’s steward, was arrested on Saturday by Detectives Lewis and Andrews -and charged with _ forgery. It _is alleged that accused obtained possession by some means'of another man’s Post Office ings Bank deposit boot, and that he took it to the Honor. Order Office and . endeavoured to draw all the money ito credit, - some .£ll2. Owing, however,' to the recent adoption by the '-Tost Office of a system by which the signature of the depositor is mot shown in the bankbook, the man was unable to get a’correct, copv-of the er'gnature, .It is alleged that ho did' his’ brat, filling in four withdrawal slips, which- ho dulv - presented at tho counter; at the office. The officials refused t6;pe.sa the signature and ho'did not obtain the money: He will appear in the Police Court this morning.:
