CORONATION EXHIBITION OPENING CEREMONY ON WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON. - OFFICIAL PROGRAMME At 3 o’clock on, Wednesday afternoon tie New Zealand Coronation, Exhibition to be held in tho Harbour Board’s fine buildings—tho U and J stores —will be opened • by - the Acting-Prime Minister (tho Hon. J. Carroll). The members of the Industrial Association —thio promoters of the exhibition—have had a busy time during the last few weeks, but now order is being evolved out of chaos and by, Wednesday everything will bo in applie-pie order. There is every indication that" tlie exhibition will be a success, and New Zealand mamnactaces and products will receive a very fine advertisement. The irittUdtrial Association is holding this exhibition .with the primary object of “booming” tho New Zealand-made article, and it ds gratifying to tbe members that such a ready response has been received irom all parts of tne Dominion. Invitations have been issued for tne opening ceremony, amongst tnose invited being tne presidents and secretaries of all industrial associations throughout New Zealand. Amongst the guests will be' members of Parliament, tne Mayor and' councillors of Wellington and the surrounding boroughs, members of the Harbour Hoard, Gham.ber of Gommerce, and many other prominent citizens. The members of the Wellington Inedeitaiel, under Mr E- Parker as leader, have promised to assist at the opening ceremony. Tine following, is the official programme for Wednesday ■ afternoon, the ceremony taking place in the concert chamber (or Coronation Theatre), which can accommodate more ■ than 800 ■ persons:— 1. Address by .Mr T. Ballinger, chairman of , the Exhibition Commissioners and president of, tne Wellington Provincial Industrial Association. . Mr Ballinger will introduce the .Acting-Prime Minister. ; - _ 2. Address by the. Mayor of Wellington (Mr.'TV K. Wilford,' M.P.)., 3. “Thou earnest Here to tho Land” —members of' the' Liedertaf el. 4. Opening ceremony: Hon. IJ. Carroll (Acting-Prime minister). , 5. “Comrades :in Arms” —Liedartaiol members.,,- V;V-,,,Vr y -- ■■ ' ; ’■ V 6. Address: Mr R. Fletcher (chair-man-of the Wellington Harblmr Board). 7. “Tho Happier ■ Land”—Liedertaf el members. 8. Address : Mr H. 0. Tewsley (chairman of the WeLiugton Chamber oi Commerce). - 9. Chorus: “Glory and Love to the Men of ,Old”—Liedertafel members. 10. “God Save the King.” At the completion of the programme tho guests will bo invited to aitemoon tea in. the upstairs luncheon rooms, and subsequently the bowling green- in the Stadium will I be opened, when Mr T. Ballinger will challenge the Hon.' J. Carroi to a game. ' / This Pierrots, the Costume Comedy Company, who have leased the concert hall —the Coronation Theatre—will give their first entertainment on Wednesday night and in the Stadium on the same evening a grand sports carnival will be held which is sure .to attract a large attendance, a firsticiass programme having " been arranged by the sports committee. , i ■'

There will be no lack of music during, the exhibition season. There will be string and brass bands, while , the Wellington Gas Company is providing an orchestra of fourteen members to play on certain evenings in the “U” shed. The exhibition buildings were a scene of .great activity all day on Saturday, some of the exhibitors' assistants working at their stands till late at . nightRight, up to the opening time there will be great bustle and excitement in get- ' ting everything prepared. Practically’ all. the heavy work has been completed, but the finishing touches have yet to bo put on The “green” is being laid in tbe Stadium, scrim painted green being used. The centre bay will, be used .for the tennis courts and the side bays for bowling, thews being room to - accommodate four rinks. , ' ■ All the pictures have been moved into the art gallery and to-day a commencement will be made with the hanging.
