SANITY AND FEET
Statistics prove that sanity can bo mca* sured by tho foot, both in men and women, but tho rules for the two sexes are the inverse of one another. In tho Paris Academy of Sciences M, Edmond Perrier read a report by Messrs A. Marie and MocAuliffe, which appears conclusive. Sane men hayo largo feet, and sane women small feet. Conversely, beware of the small-footed male and tho largo-footed female. Out of 100 normal men, according: to the report, 18 have small feet, and out of 100* insane men only 24 have larpre feet. The proportions for women are almost exactly reversed. Twenty-three sane women out of 100 have large foot, and, on the contrary, only 18 per cent, of mad women have fc.Aall feet. The ancient popular opinion that a small foot la a beauty in woman is thus proved sound. Even the Chines© may bo justified if, by reducing a woman's foot, you may increase her sanity.
