REBELS ARE RESTLESS
WAITING FOR PEACE GOVERNMENT TROOPS ABANDON A TOWN. PLOT AGAINST MADERO. By Telegraph—Press Association-- Copyright . (Received May 21, 5.5 p.m.) MEXICO CITY, May 20. For four days the insurrectos maintained an attack on Cuautla, a town of between GOOO and 7000 inhabitants, centre of a sugar producing region on tho Inter-Oceanic railway and forty-six miles south-east of the capital. The garrison of Federal troops then evacuated the town. In the fighting tho rebels last 100 men, killed or wounded. There is considerable restlessness among the rebels owing to the delay in the announcement of the result of the peace negotiations. Persistent rumours are current of the existence of a plot to assassinate General Madero, revolutionary leader, on his arrival in tho capital. ARMISTICE MAY" BE EXTENDED. (Received May 22, 0.15 a.m.) MEXICO CITY, May 21. General Madero has left Ciudad Jaurez for Mexico City to complete the peace arrangements. The armistice may be extended for ten days.
