The Hon. G. Fowlds and Mrs Fowlds arrived in Wellington .from Auckland yesterday, and are staying at the Hotel Windsor*. Mrs Fowlds will remain in Wellington until the end of June. Miss Gihhs and Miss Earle (Nelson) are the guests of Dr and Mrs Gibbs. The Rev. Mr Ralph, of Eketahuna, arrived in Wellington last Tuesday to meet his wife and family, who came out in the lonic from London, iiiey return to Eketahuna to-day. During their stay in Wellington they were the guests of the Rev. Mr and Mrs Potter, of the Primitive Methodist Church, Webb street. Mr and Mrs Burney (Woodville) are on a short visit to Wellington, ana are staying at the Occidental. Mrs MacDiarmad, who has been visiting her mother, Airs Littlejohn, has returned to Hawera.

JMr and Airs Loughnaxi (Palmerston), who have been spending a few days m Wellington, have returned home.

The engagement is announced of Mr Eric Lyon, LL.B.. youngest son of the late Mr W. D. Lyon, to Miss Edith Wheeler, second daughter of Mr G. W. Wheeler, of this city.

Miss Richmond, who is well known in connection with the Free Kindergarten, has written a very charming play entitled “Mrs Motherly’s Luck, or Sisters are . Such,” to be produced on behalf of the institution next August. The play was read yesterday afternoon before a small audience, consisting principally of members of the executive of the Free Kindergarten, and produced a most favourable impression. There is a lot of smart dialogue touching on

topics of the day, and several dances and songs are introduced. Tho whole idea of the play, however, partakes more of tho stylo of “ Peter Pan ” and “The Blue Bird.” Tho dramatic effect promises to be good, and as the work of a lady well known for her interest in educational matters, will be no doubt eagerly looked for.

This afternoon at 3 o’clock all those interested in the Girl Scouts are invited to a meeting to he held in the concert chamber of tho Town Hall. The Hon. G. Fowlds and Miss Richmond will address the meeting, and Mr Fowlds will present medals to two Petone girls for life-saving The Mayor and Mrs Wilford have premised to bo present.
