' ; The last club raoe of the season, under the control of Te Aro Sailing Club will be got off at tho usual time this afternoon. To conclude the season a race has been set down for decision next Saturday alternoon. for trophies donated by tho Motor Boat Club. For the aggregate cup Lotus is now in the lead, being closely followed by Redwing, which is some two points away. • Leaving out of account the vagaries of the weauier in Wellington this Eastertide yachtsmen have not had much to complain of. On the Thursday preceding Good Friday several of tho yachts made for Port Underwood, and their prows spent a very enjoyable time there, while other boats were content to cruiso round the harbour. Happily for those yachts that' journeyed across the strait nothing of consequence occurred but a good buffeting in the “rip” last Monday., on the trip home. In the barhour yachtsmen had an opportunity of spending tin enjoyable day at Somes Island on tho, Monday, and they were not, slow in taking : advantage 'of it. Nearly every craft on the harbour attended the piciiic, , and tho committee) in whose hands the arrangements for the affair were left, are to be heartily congratulated in providing bo successful an. outing. Once again Easter has come and gone; and before many , weeks: have passed yachts ‘will, once more, bo Snugly placed on their cradles ready to receive anoverhaul." During the season of , 1910-11 yachting in Wellington con be written down as having received a decided impetus from all points of the compass. Although there, has not been so large a number of new-yachts this season as last, the number of enthusiasts has: increased slowiy but surely, and the fact of ; yachtsman having imbibed a larger amount of deep sea cruising than hitherto should bring up the crews to a higher standard of efficiency.. , Progress is proceeding satisfactorily, and it only remains to remind tho followers of yachting that so long as they work in unison they will have something to show for their efforts, but onoe unit}- is lost things will once again drift astern.
