The steamer Eastern, stranded a week ago on tlie Salamander Bank, has been towed off. She is apparently little damaged. (Received February 6, 0.45 a.m ) BRISBANE, February' 5. A message from Madrid states that the steamer which foundered at Sagunto was the Abanto and not the Lepanto, us previously cabled. THE AOTEA INQUIRY. CAPETOWN, February 3. The certificates of the officers of tho Aoteia have been returned, with the exception of the captain’s, concerning which the decision was delayed pending inquiry into the captain’s statement that the occulting light on the breakwater waa improperly screened. FRENCH CRUISER IN TROUBLE. (Received February 5, 5.5 p.m.) PARIS, February 4. While the new cruiser Waldecfc Rousmaking steam trials at L’Orient she struck a rock or wreckage; but although her hull was full of water she was steered safely into port for repairs.
