YACHTING

The decision of the committee of the Port Nicholson Yacht Club to postpone their ocean race was a bitter disappointment to the entrants, in face of the moderate breeze and cheerful sunny skies, but the report of the lighthouse keeper as to the sea running at the heads left them no alternative. Thie race for the second and third class yachts started, promptly at three o'clock. The run to Xoro-koro _ resulted slightly in favour of the Lizzie; with Nanoya well mi, closely followed by the Rawene and. Terhuua. On the beat to Falcon Shoal the Rawene retired, the buoy there being rounded by the Lizzie well ahead of the Nanoya, and the Terhuna a long way astern. The same order prevailed at the finish. The Lizzie finished at 6hr 13min, the Nanoya 6hr 32min, and the Terhuna 6hr 43min. Result ; —Terhuua (33min handicap) 1, Lizzie (scr) 2, Nanoya (12min) 3, Rawene (19min) retired.
