ANTARCTIC EXPLORATION
SHACKLETON REPORTS DISPUTED , IN AUSTRALIA. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright ADELAIDE, December 23, Mr Douglas Mawsou, who was a member of tho last Antarctic expedition, thinks there is some mistake over Sir Ernest Shaoklefcon’s reported statement regarding his proposed Antarctic expedition. Only last week ho rechived a cable message from his former loader definitely stating that ho would not' accompany the expedition, and would heartily support an Australian expedition, under any command. This was the agreement ho made with Sir Ernest Shackleton when in London, Mr Mawson added. Sir Ernest Shackleton kept the expedition before the scientific world in his (Mr Mawson’s) interests, thus securing the ground against foreign competition. All the preliminary arrangements were being made for tho expedition, which would leave Australia. about the end of next year.
