An allowance of .£l5O. to W. M. Tyers, Inspector ■ of Taxes, was included in the Income Tax Department’s vote. ■ This led to questions regarding-' the Land and Income Tax inquiry. The Prime Min-ister-stated-in-Parliament that both officers'Concerned in the inquiry received -D25 increases of salary, and Mr Tyers would receive the: allowance : in addition. No 'special amount :, had : been paid to anyone else except 1 the officer who for over five months had acted ms .superintendent of the department. The Supplementary Estimates also include .£U'OO for the cost of the departmental inquiry and .£2OO allowance to J. Hi Richardson, acting commissioner,

Alterations... to streets surrounding Parliament Building ore responsible for a vote of £2OOO on account, and £IOOO is set down, on account of purchasing Quinton’s corner. ; ■' EXHIBITIONS. The sum of £2500 is provided for Neif Zealand raperesentalion in the Festival of Empire in Loudon next year.
