SHIPYARD TROUBLE
AT THE HARTLEPOOLS LORD FURNESS BELIEVES SOLUTION IS AT HAND. Ey Telegraph—Press Association— Copyrignr LONDON, December I. In a speech at West Hartlepool, Lord Furness, head of Furness, "Withy and Co., shipowners and builders, stated that he understood Air O. R. Askwith, of the Board of Trade, was preparing what he believed to be a fair and honourable solution of the shipyard question. "Either the Employers' Federation will accept the solution," Lord Furness continued, "or the lock-out shall end; otherwise the shipbuilding industry must choose between me and the Federation." LORD FURNESS'S ACTION DEPRECATED. (Received December 2, 9.40 p.m.) LONDON. December 2. The Employers' Federation adopted a resolution condemning Lord Furness’s statement being made at a political meeting without seeking authoritative information.
