MEETING OP THE BOARD, Tho Technical Education Board met last evening, when there were present: Messrs D. Robertson (chairman), T. Carmichael, J, G. W. Aiken, J. E. h’itzgorald, D. McLaren W. Allan. . Tho financial statement to November 25th showed a credit balance of £IOBO 18s lOd, as against a debit balance of £977 lie 8d at the corresponding date last year. At the end of November it was estimated that there .would tie net fnnds available amounting to. £1742 18s lOd, as against £163?. 176 9d at tho ; same period last year. It was reported that the distribution of prizes would take place on Wednesday next. His Excellency ; Lord Islington is to be asked to present the prizes, A report submitted by the Painters* and Decorators’ Board of Control with reference to a suggested, course of instruction was approved. Mr Samuel Roberts, senior, being appointed instructor in graining and marbling at a salary of £4O per annum, in addition to his . existing arrangement with the Board. , Arising out <of an application by F. C. Kulne for appointment as instructor in cookery, it was decided to ask the Marine Department and tho Cooks and Waiters' Union how far they were prepared to subsidise a class for instruction of males in cookery, such class, if established, being for the benefit of those who desired tn qualify for positions as hotel chefs and sea cooks.
