In the Magistrate's Court to-day charges laid against Councillors Stewart and Shacklock of illegally holding seate pn the City Council, and asking them to show cause whv they should not be called upon to resign their. positions on the council, came before Mr 11. Y. IViddowsou, S.M. Counsel for informant said there was now no need to go on with the cases, the intentions of the Legislature having been made clear. Both cases were d’smb'sed by consent, and in the case of Shacklock costa -£3 5s wore allowed against the informant (Jac. Connor). , 1
