UMIFOBMITY IN AVOBKBKS’ CABS, Various matters connected with- the city and suburban tramways were before tho City Council last evening. The Hataitai Ratepayers’ Association is to bo informed that its request that the name “Hataitai” he placed on the tramway route board will be; considered when new boards arc required; : '' The Karori and Miramar Borough Councils arc to bo asked to co-operato with the City Council in instituting the same arrangements with regard to workers’ cars on their respective systems-'as have .. lately been adopted on the city service. No action is to be taken with regard to a request for, the erection of a tramway waiting shed at the Miramar city boundary, it being considered unnecessary :by the officers of tho City Council. Arrangements made to cope with tho holiday traffic provide that a box car for luggage will run behind cars meeting heavy traffic trains, luggage which cannot be carried on. the passenger car to be charged for as follows ;—All luggage of ordinary dimensions and weight, at the same rate as passengers; luggage of a bulky nature, 3d for carriage any distance within the city. Councillor Trevor .suggested .that eomo charge should be made for tHe carriage of perambulators on the cars.
The Mayor said ho hold the opposite opinion. He would rather pav a premium for perambulators—especially if there were two occupants in each perambulator—than charge for the carriage of them
