BOILERMAKERS' AGREEMENT

It is officially announced that the boilermakers have rejected the new agreement, which requires that penalties shall be imposed for sectional breaches of the conditions of the agreement. RESULT OF THE 1 BALLOT. DISAPPOINTMENT AT THE CLYDE AND TYNESIDE. (Received October 20, 11.30 p.m.) LONDON, October 20. The ballot of the boilermakers on the question of acceptance or rejection of the agreement resulted;— For the agreement 8,760 Against 10,079 , Majority against 1,319 In view of the smallness of the voting it is possible the executive of the association will order another ballot. Profound disappointment prevails, on the Clyde and at Tyneside yards, where many families are feeling the pinch of poverty.
