'■ In the Legislative Assembly, Mr Kidston, State Premier, dealing with the question of immigration, said that during the lifetime of the present generation or its successor Australia would have to struggle for her .position in the Pacific, for the mastery of which a great national struggle would take place. iWhen that time arrived, Queensland, with half a million population, would be nowhere, and if by spending .235,000,000 during the nest twenty years she could add 5,000,000 to her population the money would be well spent.
