HUTT TRAMWAYS

(To the Editor "K.Z. Times.”) - , Sir.—Ono would have thought that the diinculty experienced in the laying: of the drains would have warned the ratepayers that there is not a road in the district, bar the main road, that is fit to take a tram, track without total remaking, to nay nothing of other distribution difficulties. It is a questionable scheme at any time, but surely the inhabitants will sec through this barefaced attempt to rush through the scheme ahead of the Government proposals. The route of the Government lino passes right through the district, the grounds is acquired, which is a good indication that the work will be carried out. and to spend £85,000 on tho prerent wild-cat proposition in the face of these facts is absolutely unthinkable.. Lot us keep our money in our pockets until wc u'q know where we are.—l am, etc., *0 hiioa ue C . j. DEEWTTT. October 19th.
