ACCIDENTAL DEATH

THE CASE OF ALEXANDER ALLEN",

An adjourned inquest on the Alexander Allen, an old pensioner, 'of New Plymouth, who was . found dead iu a Wellington boardinghouse last week was reopened before tho city coroner, Mr W.R. Haseldeoi, S.M., yesterday. The post-mortem had disclosed the fact that death had resulted from a ruptured cyst on the brain, and as a man had been committed for trial at New Plymouth on a charge of assaulting the deceased with a poker, the inquest was adjourned in order to secure further evidence.

Sergeant Darby stated, yesterday there was no further evidence. Dr. \V. K. Fyfie, who made the post-mortem, supplied a memorandum to the effect that iie found no trace of the fracture to tho skull for which the man was admitted to the hospital iu December last. All signs pointed to an older injury. In his opinion the cyst was tho result of a fall. A verdict was returned that death was due to injuries accidentally received by deceased in falling against a mantelpiece, thereby rupturing an old cyst and causing haemorrhage.
