GARTER —WIREN. j A very pretty wedding was solemnised at St. Mark's Church, on April 27th, when Miss Alice Wiren, elder daughter of ' Mr and Mrs Albert G. Wiren, of Fitchctt-town, was married to Mr Lionel G. Carter, third son of 'Mr Frederic Carter, of Manly. The Rgv. A. M. Johnson officiated. iho bride, who was given array by her father, rtore a cream Empire gown of crepe-de-chinc, trimmed with ' glace, chiffon, and silk roses. She wore the orthodox wreath and embroidered veil, and carried a shower bouquet, tho_ gift of the bridegroom. Miss Ethel Wiren, sister of the bride, acted as bridesmaid, wearing a peach cloth Empire dress braided with black, and largo peach and black hat with wings. She carried a bouquet of chrysanthemums, and wore a jewelled dagger, the gift of the bridegroom. Mr Francis Hendry, of the Lower Hutt, was best man. Mrs Wiren received the guests at the Hotel ■ Windsor, after which Mr and Mrs Lionel Carter left by the Palmerston train. The bride travelled in\ a costume of amethyst cloth with gold trimming, and silk Napoleon hat to match. Mrs When, mother of the bride, wore a green tweed costume with rose silk toque. Mrs J. E. Wiren, of Kelburne, wore a black frock and hat to match. Mrs A. F. When, of Kelburne, wore a cream costume with a black hat. Mrs Still, sister of the bridegroom, grey costume. Mrs W. Carter navy costume, Mrs S. Carter tweed- costume. Miss Carter vieus rose gown. WALKER—SMjITH. At St. Thomas’s Church, Newtown, yesterday morning, the Rev. John Walker, vicar of St. Thomas’s, was married to , Miss Lillian May, third daughter of Air Thomas Smith, of Newtown. The ■ Ven. Archdeacon Fancourt performed the ceremony, assisted by the Rev. W. Fancourt. The bride wore a graceful gown of ivory ninon _ over glace silk trimmed with crystal insertion and net. She also wore a veil of Brussels net and a wreath o£ lilies of the valley. . The bride’s sister was also frocked in white, which was worn with a leaf brown hat trimmed with chrysanthemums, which matched her beautiful bouquet of bronze chrysanthemums. Mr Charles Walker .attended his brother as best man. The wedding was a very quiet one, arid after the ceremony an adjournment was made to the Hotel Windsor, ■where morning tea was served. The Sunday school teachers and tho choir had previously presented MiWalker with a handsome china cabinet, which was especially designed to hold a beautiful tea service sent ont to Mr Walker by hia old friends of Cains College, Cambridge. The cups hear the crest and arms of the college, and are very dainty and artistic in design. Mr and Mrs Walker left for a short trip for Napier, after which they will go to Aramoho, where the new vicarage will be in readiness. McKenzie—burling.
