Tho prize of .£SOOO offered by tho Transvaal Government for the best hand drill for mining purposes has been divided between the Holman and Saskol drills, which enable Highly skilled whites to do work at tenpence per foot compared with the natives' fourteen pence.' The Government is experimentally training fifty whites in the use of the drills.
