CHANCE FOR SHIPBUILDERS

FEEBS ASfIOCIATIOS. DUNEDIN, May 30. In conversation with a deputation from local engineering firms to-day the lion. J. A. Millar said he would very shortly give local engineering firms aji opportunity of doing some shipbuilding if they were so prepared. Mr Millar subsequently informed a reporter that tenders for a new steamer for Lake Wakatipu _would probably be called within ten days or a fortnight. The prices quoted by New Zealand firms would be compared with prices which the Government had offered to it by firms outside New Zealand. Provision is made in the plans for a twin-screw steamer of 230 tons.
