The schooner Clyde is to sail from Wellington towards the end of this week for Greymouth. The Union Company's cargo steamer Flora passed the Wellington heads at vt.Sd p.m. yesterday bound west. Somebody dumped a marine boiler into Eangitoto Channel, and it was discovered recently while the channel was being swept for reefs. The Auckland Harbour Board offers £25 reward for information that will lead to the conviction of the person responsible for the deposit of the boiler. At 11 o’clock on Thursday morning tha Norwegian barque Killeena cleared the Westport heads for Matupi with a cargo of 1250 tons of coal. The master had no trouble with his crew. The Union Company's steamer Waitemata, from Glasgow, passed Pigeon Point, 850 miles south of Vancouver, on Monday, and was due at Vancouver on Saturday. After discharge she will load timber at Puget Sound, and mules at San Francisco for Fiji. Some people at Opunakc are endeavouring to form a company to build a new vessel to trade to aud from that port. The Wailiora, which is to complete her discharge at Timaru 10-day, is to proceed back to Newcastle. The Union Company’s turret deck steamer Kopomiko will be completing her overhaul at Port Chalmers throughout this week. Shortage of railway trucks at Lyttelton compelled the Pukaki to stop discharging her coal on Friday, and the Kaitangata had to discontinue work. At 9 o’clock yesterday morning the Hud* dard Parker steamer Wimmera arrived at Auckland from Sydney after a good run across the Tasman sea. She brought thirty-six saloon aud thirty-nine steerage passengers for Auckland. MATATUA AT AUCKLAND. The Shaw, Savill and Albion Company’s steamer Matatua arrived at Auckland from London direct shortly after 3 p.m. on Thursday, and having explosives on board took up an anchorage in . tlic powder ground. The Government steamer Hlnomoa bad finished overhauling the Brampton buoy, Russell, on Saturdaj”. and was to have sailed in. the afternoon for Awanui, where she will overhaul the buoys. The Hinemoa will afterwards proceed on to Cape Maria and is to replace the overhead wire which connects the small island on which the lighthouse is situated, with the mainland. The wire gave way during a recent gale. The wire, which measures about 1700 reet,is one and three-quarter inches in circumference, and is used for sending meat and mails across from the mainland to the lighthouse-keeper.
