THEOSOPHITS' SOCIAL GATHERING
The Wellington Theosophical Society held its monthly social on Saturday aiternoon. Members and friends partook of aiternoon tea, and also of refreshment lor lire mind in the shape of a crisp and lucid talk on. “Thoughtpower** by Mr Martyn, president of the Sydney lodge. Mr Martyn, in introducing ins subject, reminded, his hearers of the vital importance of thought. Ho touched briefly upon the_ danger of letting the mind wander at its own sweet will, amt then recommended suitable methods for its control. Prejudices also came in for consideration, and Mr Martyn urged his hearers to endeavour to cease looking through the coloured glass of theii* own precunceived ideas ami to try the ofticucy of the old-fasiiibned power of faith, a mighty and potent force. Music was provided by Mr Claude Allen ("I*ll Sing Thee Songs of Araby"), Mrs Ingerton (“The bea Hath Its Pearls**), Mr Reid (“The Poi Dance*'), and Mrs Kendall, who contributed several piano solos, as well as accompanying the singers. Mrs Bradley gave some recitations. The hall was brightened by such blossoms as the season would provide, chrysanthemums, daisies and oosmeas being much in evidence.
