SUNDAY LECTURES

In the Masonic Hall yesterday aitemoon a lecture on “Shaping the Future” was delivered by the Kev. M. Walker, of Auckland. The necessity for" "ideals” was dealt with, and it waa shown that the successful men of the world, the pioneers of humanity, were those who refused to wait for "favourable conditions,” but created them. In the evening the subject was "The Esoteric Meaning of the Prodigal Son.*’ In this suggestive parable is found a summing up of the whole philosophy of "Karma.” the lecturer pointed out; and a great many people deemed it necessary to plunge into the superstitions of the past to flna a system of spiritual philosophy suited to their development. The search, however, ends in the discovery of husks, and a return to the plain teaching of the Nazarene, which includes in a positive form all that was good in Eastern systems of thought. The lectures were largely attended, forcibly delivered, and listened to with rapt attention.
