SHOCKING CASE
fEESS ASSOCIATION. WiXAXGAREI, Mav 27. An inquest concerning the deatfi of a newly-born Maori infant revealed some shocking particulars, showing that the child was bom' of au incestuous union between an aged Maori named llama Uaromona and his uaughfer Emily, aged fourteen. Medical opinion showed that the child had lived after it wafc born. It died of inanition. The evidence of tho principals proved that the child was totally uncared for, and was buried secretly by tho father the next day. Tho body was exhumed by the police yesterday after a week's 'interment.. Tho verdict was that death was duo to inanition. Haromona was then charged with incest and remanded till to-morrow.
