THE DAIRYING SEASON

POSITION IN WAJRARAPA

Like that of other milk-producing territories of this island fclio season in the Wairarapa is proving onie of flic best on record. An evidence of this is afforded by the returns of the Dalefield Company, of Carterton. At the present time the milk being received is a thousand gallons in excess of tlie recoipte at tho corresponding date of last year, while already fifty tons more cheese have, boon made than were manufactured during the whole of last season. Many things have combined towards record production. _ The cows oamo to milk in the spring in< splendid form, the weather since especially of late, has been all in favour of maximum production and more green feed has been grown than is usually tho case. Whilo tho yield has hatKi so satisfactory, the quality of the milk Iras hardly been so satisfactory. Speaking of this to the writer, Mr West, manager of tho Da,leficld Company, says tho percentage of solids has been less this year than last, whilo tho warmer weather this summer haa been, against the night's milk being delivered in a satisfactory condition.
