WELLINGTON v. CAPITOL. ' Wellington Bet the pace in the firßt game on Saturday, and defeated Capitol by 4 goals to 1. , Capitol attacked well, but Wellington's defence proved invulnerable. liobinson, Meyer, and Webb—at point, cover and goal respectively—put up a solid defence. Wellington's attack—Penlington, Eenouff, Firth and Carver—notched points in quick-succession. Capitol found the net once in the first half. At half time Wellington led by 3 goals to 1. Play on both sides was particularly brisk in the second spell. To the interested spectator, tho question as to which was the stronger team was a. difficult one to answer. New players on both sides gave good accounts of themselves. KELBTJENE v. COLUMBIA. Kelburne administered a defeat to' Columbia in a well-contested game. Columbia ought to have secured a point shortly after the start, but their stick Work was faulty. . Kelburne relieved well, and enabled .their "homes" to get in some telling work, and notch a point. Both sides showed very fine combination, and treated the spectators to an exhibition of a very high standard. After some clever mid-held play, Kelburne. once more scattered Columbia's defence, and scored. Half time arrived, and tho score standing in Kolbnme's favour at 2 goal 6to nil. Columbia, forced matters on resuming, but Kelbunie's defence was "all there," and they transferred play to the other end, where tho light bluco again got the ball between the posts. Besult: Kelburne 3, Columbia 0. Leydon (centre) and McGovern (goal) were outstanding men for Columbia, while Pledger, Jordan and Penlington shone in the Kelburne firmament.
