WAIRARAPA P. AND A. SOCIETY

ANNUAL REPORT. Tho annual report to be presented at the meeting of tho members of the Wairarapa P. and A. Tho quality of stock exhibited was excellent. As evidence of tho still increasing popularity of the show, tho committee has again received various letters of' thanks and congratulation.' The overdraft has increased by £l2O. -.This is mainly attributable to tho facts that permanent improvements have cost £lOl, while £lO more has been spent on prize money, and £26 on champion prizes than . received. ' Expenditure has been carefully managed,' 1 and a saving in general show expenses of £4O been effected. The ground committee has paid special attention to the maintenance of the grounds and buildings in good order, and lias carried out only tho.se improvements which have been found absolutely necessary.

- The butter-fht competition was again a great success, and a general interest was taken in the contest' by dairy farmers. Mr C. Morgan "won the cap for the year, his cow scoring total points 79.38. During the year the committee has given serious consideration to the question of holding a ram fair, but decided that it would be. better to consider the advisability of instituting a stock sale or fair, for the day after the annual show in October, in the

interests of both exhibitors and Wairarnpa. farmers. The entries to be for all classes, although it is anticipated that advantage will bo taken of the opportunity by dairy farmers more particularly. The committee desires to thank all those who contributed towards the society’s prize fund, both in Wellington and Wairarapa. and also to express its appreciation of the "ink carried out by the stewards and judges, to whrfm belongs, in a groat measure, the ciedit of tho success and popularity of the animal fixture.
