MANAWATU SHOW

TWO DAYS v. THEEE DAYS. The action of the committee of the Manawatu A. and P. Association in throwing out a suggestion to revert to a two-days summer show was obviously the right thing to do. The idea of , a committeeman, Mr G. Wheeler, in supporting the proposal, ■ however—that holding the show for three days was useless unless the stockwere on the ground on the first day—touched the crux of the question. If some of the stock, say the sheep or the cattle, were judgea me first day it would add greatly to the educational'value of the show, as there would toe then some opportunity afforded farmers interested in more'than one class ■ of ■ stock to properly examine the prize animals, . under the present arrangement the judging of practically all the stock on the' second day mean’s that Friday is the only day many classes can be inspected, as the judging is concluded too late on the previous day; and Friday is a day when* the ring competitions are such an attraction that farmers are not inclined to give the attention to the live stock exhibits they should. The right policy would be to have all the live stock judged on (be first day, and have a proper 'parade of the winning animals at midday on both

tho «?coi!<i and third days. Then to* visiting - fa'fmer would be enabled to examine well the stock exhibited,- and gain the education from the show he should. \
