ROWING INDIES.

, THE PARRAMATTA HUNDRED. The race for tho Parramatta Hundred, which is to come oft next Saturday on tho Parramatta river. Sydney, lias drawn a wonderful entry- indeed, it is highly improbable that the world lias ever seen such a galaxy of sculling talent. No loss than twenty-nine eculleVs are listed to compote, the names being as follows: Rich ard A rust (N.Z.), Jack A rust (N.Z.), Harry Pearce. F. S. Hagncy, Syd. Pcaro?, W. George Day. E. C. Laycock. Norman Towns. Theo. Towns, Syd. Kemp. George Mullerson. F. Mattered n. Matterson, Tom Kemp, Peter Kemp, inn., Richard Green, jun., Alf. Felton, VAE. Simpson. W. Fisher. G. T. AVitohard. J. Ellis. F. Delofski. J. Backhouse. N. Zietsch, Arthur Straney, C. AValtcir?, C. Smith, and R, Donnelly. As of course it will be manifestly impossible to row tho race other than in heats, tho event will be continued .ou May 7th. when the final will take place. Dick Arnst will, of course, be on scratch, and at last we shall be able to see what he can really do when thoroughly extended. So far his admirers claim that this has not occurred, but with twentyeight, men to pass he will surely have to do his best to win. Tho lale Mr Adolf Kohn, who died suddenly last week in Auckland, was an enthusiastic supporter of rowing (says the "Star"), and the several clubs with which he was connected were all represented at his funeral, as also was the Auckland Rowing Association. A liberal patron of tli© sport, Mr Kohn took a real active interest in the sheds, and his services were always available when official duty was to be done. Mr Kohn was in the habit of giving gold medals as trophies, and he must have donated an enormous number of these during the last few years. Time after time did Mr Kohn come forward in the cause of sport, and if the truth could only bo known it would be found that his devotion to it cost him many hundreds of pounds. The "little ieweller" will be much missed in Auckland aquatic circles. Tho inter-Sta.to eights championship will take place in Tasmania next Saturday. Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia, AA T esfc Australia, and Tasmania will all be represented by picked crews. What a pity New Zealand cannot have a cut in at this. Judging from the success of our fouroared crews the oarsmen from the Dominion would not bo the last to finish.
