PARABLE WINS THE CUP. PKEB3 ASSOCIATION. NAPIER, March 16. There was fine weather to-day for the first day of tho Napier Park Racing Club’s autumn, meeting., The course was in good order. The attendance was not quite up to cup day average. Nine bookmakers were licensed —four at <£2o 10s and five at <£lo 10s. The sum of <£5356 was put through the machine, against .£5581 for the first day last year. Results:— OMARANUI HACK HURDLES, of 80 sots; one mile and three-quarters. — l W. J. Douglas's Polyanthus, by the Possible —Violet, 11.5 (J. O’Connell), 1; 2 Forest, 10.2 (C. Orees), -2.' The only starters. Won easily by two lengths. Time, 3min 20sec. BSK HACK HANDICAP, of 80 sows; seven furlongs.—3 J. Hennah’s Amaru, by The Possible—Violet, 7 (carried 11b over) (E. Lowe), 1; 1 Fort William, 8.7 (F. Porter), 2; 4 Bandalcro, 7.5 (W. Bennett), 3. Also started—s Composed 6.10, 2, Kildonan 7.9, 6 All Trumps 6.10. A great race from the distance saw, Amaru win by a head, half a length separating second, and third. Time, Imin 31 2-sseo. Then Parable assumed Command and was never headed, but had to bo hard ridden from the distance to win by a neck. There was tho same distance between second and third. Sandstream was dote Up fourth.
