NEW HOSPITAL BOARD

RESULT OF THE POLL. VERT SMALL VOTING. The election of members of the next Hospital and Charitable Aid Board yesterday excited very little interest in the city. The roll used at the last municipal election did duty on this occasion. It contained about 30,000 names, with about 1000 names on. the supplementary roll. Out of a total of 31,000 persons entitled to vote, tho figures 'show that only a small proportion took advantage of the franchise. The returns came iu expeditiously, the last, from tho Rechabite Hall, 'bsins in by eight o'clock, and shortly afterwards the returning officer, Mr Ames, was able to announce tho results. The election of seven members to re. present the City of Christehuroh on tti» Hospital and Charitable Aid Board resulted in tho return of five out of sereoof the people's Progressive ticket, iai-. chiding three ladies. Tho election of one representative for Alcaloa County Council resulted" in Mr Murray (tho old member) beating Dr Thacker by ,102 votes to 38. Mr Colin Cook was elected to represent tho combined boroughs of Lyttelton, Woolston, Sunmer and New Brighton. NELSON, March. 16. At the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board election to-day, Messrs Field and Lock, and Mepdames Fell and, "Watson were elected to represent the contributing district of Nelson and Richmond. Verylittle interest was taken, between 600 and 700 only, out of 3671 voting. GREYMOUTH, March 16. Very little interest was taken in the Hospital Board elections to-day, only about 120 electors taking the trouble to <;o to the poll in the borough.
