HOSPITAL BOARD
TO-DAY'S ELECTION. BY MUNICIPAL FRANCHISE. Tho Hospital and Charitable Aid Board election takes place in Wellington, to-day. There are twenty-three candidates for tho fourteen! seats for representatives of the combined AVellington district. Each candidate has made a nomination deposit of J 3 with the returning officer, and if a candidate docs not poll one-eighth of the votes received by tho iUccos.sful candidate who gets the fewest votes, the deposit is to be forfeited. All those on the municipal roll, ratepayers' or residential qualification, aro entitled to vote. The now board absorbs the Wellington Hospital Trustees, Wellington and Wairarapa Charitable Aid Board, and Wellington Benevolent Trustees. All property- vesting in the board as successor of the old boards will remain subject to existing trusts. The board, which conies into being on April Ist, is empowered to refund, travelling expenses to members. No appointment of any medical officer (other than honorary), or of a master, manager or matron of any institution, can be made until the expiration of twenty-one. days after the Minister has been notified of the intention to make such appointment. The cost of relief granted by the board is to constitute a debt due to the board, and may be recovered in any court. Following arc the candidates in today's election, fourteen being required. The polling hours are from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.:

At Petone the contest will be between Messrs J. W. Mcßwan, R. W. Short and Injrfis. There are four candidates for tile two seats representing Horowhenua County and Levin Borough—Messrs F. W. Venn, A. H. Rollo, W. Tompsitt and B. R. Gardener.
