THEATRE ROYAL. Good wine needs no bush. Hassan, the magician, needs no trumpeter. That his reputation is already established was shown by the large and expectant audience at tho Theatre Royal last ni"ht to witness his second performancc. The series of mystifying feats was "one through in tho same finished stvle that the artist discovered on Mondav night. The Klinios, adept tumblers 'and acrobats, and their tricky attendant, provided an enjoyr.blo and in somo respects remarkable act. Ward Lear's intensely funny mannerisms. Charles T-hrosby's clever impersonations, Maud Hcwson s ballad songs, tho Martin sisters' pretty ways and tuneful singing and tho several other turns constituting the present week's nrogramme appeared all to bo well to the liking of the audience. HIS MAJESTY'S PICTURES. To-night at His Majesty's Theatre Messrs' John Fuller and Sons will present a programmo of all-round excellence to mark their resumption of tho sole management of this popular theatre. As already advertised two of the numerous "star" films .will Paris floods of last month and_ the widely-discussed sleeping-sickness, or micro-cinematographic film. Besides these Patho Freros contribute of their best with "Tho Lady of tho Camellias, a, beautiful art film founded on the celebrated novel "Camille. The educational element is well represented by an industrial film entitled "From Pulp to Paper, or Paper Mills in Canada." In this one not only gets a good idea of the whole process from the huge logs to the finished article, but the film also gives the rugged grandeur of the Canadian river and forest scenery. The wellknown American manufacturers, the Biograph Company, provide one of the strongest dramatic stories they have yet turned out .entitled "To Save Her Soul." Tho comedy element is well maintained by "When We Called the Plumber In," "Who's Got My Hat," etc. Seats for to-night and succeeding nights may be reserved at Chris-teson's. PROFESSIONAL MUSICIANS. The Wellington Society of Professional Musicians held a social gathering at Godber's .rooms last evening. The president, Mr R. Parker, who occupied the chair, read an interesting paper setting out the aims and ideas of the society. An enjoyable programme of imusieal and vocal items was carried out. <Mr Horace G. Hunt and Miss Richmond played an andante by Schumann; Miss Gladys Watlrins) sang "Memory" (Thomas); Miss Kennedy played two .old Italian airs on the violin, Mr Parker . accompanying her on the piano; Mr Leo. Buckoridgo sang "If Thou Wert Blind" {Johnson). A nocturne of his own composition was played on the piano by Mr Laurence Watkins; Hiss Phoebe Parsons contributed vocal items "A Spring Night" and "Entreaty" (Bohm); and Mr Herbert Bloy gave two Spanish dances on the rviolin (Sarasate 1 ). There was a large attendance, tho entertainment being in every way a success. KING'S THEATRE TO-NIGHT. A programme befitting the occasion is promised in celebration of the opening of the new theatre in Courtenay place to-night. The management has been to great expense in obtaining a completely new set of films depicting scenery and incidents of novel and thralling interest. Popular prices are being charged. Sir Joseph and Lady Ward and party have intimated their intention of being present at the opening ceremony. CONCERT AND DRAMATIC ENTERTAINMENT. MISS BODMIN'S CANDIDATURE. M the Sydney street Schoolroom to-morrow night a concert and dramatic entertainment will be given in aid of Miss Bodmin's candidature for the " New Zealand Times" Great Voting Contest. A splendid programme is being arranged, particulars of which will be given in to-morrow's issue. Tickets may be obtained from Mr G. 0. Sutton or from the influential committee whoso names appear in our advertising columns. „ BESSES 0' TH' BARN BAND. The programmo to bo presented by the Besses at their opening performance this evening at the Town Hall includes the march "Schiller"; overture, 'Toot and Peasant"; selections, "Rossini's Works" and "II Trovatore"; air, "The Harmonious Blacksmith"; fantasia, "National Airs"; solos, cornet, "Arbuokleman," euphonium, "Jenny Jones." Encores will include grand old hymns. Mr Alex Owen will conduct. A complete change will be given at each evening conoert and at Saturday's matinee. MISS RICHMOND'S CONCERT. Miss Beatrice Richmond will give a concert in the Concert Chamber of the Town Hall, on Tuesday, April sth, assisted by Miss May Donaldson (violin), anld Mr F. R. Johnstone ('cello). An attractive programme, which will include items not previously heard iu Wellington, is in preparation.
